Water-Based Development

Case studies

Our waterfronts are one of our most popular and precious assets, and as such demand a very sensitive and considered approach to design.

Water-based development, in its many forms, presents some of the most important challenges in modern day urban development.

We understand the socio-political sensitivity of anything relating to our precious waterfront assets, but we also recognise the enormous opportunities to produce developments that will offer more diversity and enrichment in our use and enjoyment by the whole community of our vast beach and river frontages.

Planning for water-based development requires specialised knowledge of the characteristics of the marine and waterfront environments, the particular ways in which we seek to enjoy, and interact with, those places, and the impacts on the natural and social environments.

Taylor Burrell Barnett has a long history of providing the innovative design visions for many of this states most iconic waterfront developments, including canals, commercial and residential marinas, coastal and riverfront developments, and urban renewal projects.
