Urban Renewal

Case studies

As our cities start to mature, we are presented with the opportunity to plan for the next generation of their urban form and structure.

The common challenge of urban renewal is to regenerate degraded urban environments and achieve seamless integration with the existing urban fabric. The increasing emphasis of government policy towards infill and densification in established areas, and particularly around transit corridors, to manage some of our strong growth pressures, has been answered by the development industry by shifting focus towards brownfield development and high density city living projects.

Taylor Burrell Barnett has been at the forefront of planning for urban renewal, with some of the state’s flagship urban renewal projects among our major achievements. Our experience has included work at the strategic level, producing precinct plans and urban design strategies for areas such as town centres, rail station precincts and inner-city brownfield sites, through to the detailed planning and design level for the actual projects that deliver the vision.
