Transit Oriented Development

Case studies

The increasing attention towards public transport, and particularly rail, as an alternative to private transportation has seen the start of a renaissance in Transit Oriented Development(TOD).

Government policy now challenges the development industry to maximise mixed use and urban density around transit stations, and with the help of some pioneering development ventures, we are seeking an emerging market demand for transit oriented mixed use centres – old centres are being revitalised and new development is often driven by proximity to transit services.

Taylor Burrell Barnett has been an influencial participant in TOD planning from the formative stages of government policy, has offered professional guidance to state and local government, through numerous urban design studies, and has assisted the development industry in pursuing challenging, successful, TOD ventures. In particular we have been at the forefront in the challenging area of TOD in greenfields development on the urban fringes with award winning success.
